EUGENE, Ore. – A pilot involved in an airplane crash Thursday morning is in serious condition, officials say.
Bob Cross was taken to RiverBend Hospital after his small airplane crashed into a field about two miles north of the Eugene airport. It happened at about 10:30 near Meadowview Road and Green Hill Road.

Fire officials said Cross was the sole occupant and suffered life-threatening injuries.
According to the FAA, the aircraft was a single-engine Stoddard-Hamilton Glasair III, which is a homebuilt aircraft manufactured in Washington.
